Behind EPI
Launching a business is a daunting task. It requires hard work, determination, and vision—even in the face of what can feel like insurmountable challenges. Michael Nardy, Founder and CEO of Electronic Payments, understands what’s required of entrepreneurs and how to grow a successful business because he built Electronic Payments from the ground up.
Learn more about our 25 years of entrepreneurship, what we stand for, and how our long-standing commitment to innovation, transparency, and partnership helps small businesses grow with advanced payment processing, POS solutions, and unmatched in-house support.
In over 25 years of business, our mission remains unchanged: To provide growing businesses with innovative payment processing services that are affordable, reliable, and backed by 24/7, in-house technical support.
Michael comes from a family of entrepreneurs and has always had a keen interest in business. He started Electronic Payments while attending Boston College, providing simple and cost-effective credit card processing solutions to small business owners in the local community.
From the beginning, he adopted an in-house approach to avoid disruptions in service. Today, with 150+ staff, a network of 1,000+ agents, and 2 office locations nationwide, Electronic Payments upholds the same industry-leading support model.
As EPI passes its milestone 25th year, Michael is focused on further developing proprietary, omnichannel solutions that integrate retail and restaurant processes, streamline operations, and enhance the customer experience for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) nationwide.
In 2025, Electronic Payments proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary. From launching one of the first virtual terminals in 2000 to developing our own proprietary point of sale, Exatouch®, and now Cygma®—our wholly-owned direct processing platform—we’ve continued to lead with innovation. Our in-house approach and entrepreneurial roots have fueled decades of growth and product development, all focused on helping businesses thrive.

As leaders in one of the most dynamic and rapidly evolving industries, we’re committed to offering new and adaptable technology to help our partners succeed. It’s why we continuously develop and support new payment and POS solutions in-house, fueled by merchant feedback and requests.
We offer fair and equitable pricing, with clear costs and no hidden fees. We even created a Customer Bill of Rights outlining our commitment to our partners. It’s our belief that to be successful, we must always act with honesty, respect, and integrity.
Because of our strong partnerships with merchants, agents, ISOs, and financial institutions, we’ve been able to build a stable, growing company. It’s only together that we succeed, and as a privately-owned business, our partners will always be our first priority.
Our team has decades of experience in payments and POS. And with that strong base of knowledge, we continue educating ourselves and innovating to remain at the forefront of our industry. We believe in sharing information with our partners, too, which is why we provide free learning and networking opportunities throughout the year.
We believe in giving back to the communities in which we live and work. Through our Charity POS initiative, we support local arts and culture, the environment, historical preservation, disadvantaged youth and families, and community educational initiatives, among many other worthy causes.
We’ve increased our position on The Nilson Report’s annual list of Top Merchant Acquirers in the United States for twelve consecutive years. In 2024, Electronic Payments made the Top 25 based on payment processing volume for the second year running. We’ve also been named to The Nilson Report’s annual list of Top Merchant Acquirers worldwide, ranking 97th!
We’re proud to be on the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll, which means our company has been named an Inc. honoree five times. This exclusive ranking is of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.
For three consecutive years, we’ve been featured in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 program in North America, which ranks the fastest-growing technology companies.
Our Founder and CEO, Michael Nardy, is a three-time nominee for EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year® program, including a finalist nomination in 2017 for the New York program.
Michael has also been named an “Industry Leader” by the Green Sheet, one of “America’s Coolest Young Entrepreneurs under 30” by Inc. magazine, and a Forty Under 40 honoree by the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA).
At Electronic Payments, people are the heart of our success—our passionate, experienced team and our incredible partners. As we celebrate 25 years in business, we remain fiercely committed to delivering innovation through every transaction.
