Calverton, New York — November 20, 2017 — Electronic Payments recently announced its participation in this year’s Small Business Saturday®, taking place on November 25th. Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting local small businesses and strengthening communities across the country.
A supporter of Small Business Saturday since 2012, Electronic Payments will actively encourage consumers nationwide to Shop Small. The efforts will be shared via Electronic Payments’ social media channels to inspire others to do the same. Additionally, the company will provide promotional materials to over 800 reseller partners to further extend the value of Small Business Saturday with their clients.
“Small Business Saturday not only reminds us to support the local businesses that make up the foundation of our communities, but enables merchants to engage customers, remain competitive, and drive incremental sales during the busiest shopping season of the year,” said Amber Josi, Director of Marketing. “The movement falls in line Electronic Payments’ mission to empower businesses with innovative technologies and tailored service offerings. We’re enthusiastic to align our efforts and bring awareness to the significance of shopping small.”
Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday serves as the ceremonial kickoff to the holiday shopping season for small businesses across the United States. In 2016, an estimated 112 million consumers reported shopping at small businesses on Small Business Saturday, according to the 2016 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey.1 The day was also championed by elected officials in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
Small Business Saturday celebrates the diversity of small businesses across the U.S. and Electronic Payments recognizes the importance of supporting small businesses, the jobs they help create, and the culture they instill in local communities. According to the U.S. Small Businesses Administration, as of 2014, small businesses nationwide accounted for 63% of net new private-sector jobs created and represented 99.7% of firms with paid employees.2
