Our CEO, Michael Nardy, was a college student at Boston College, where he met Matthew Findlan, now our COO. Seeing an expanding, yet underserved market of local entrepreneurs who frequently overpaid for merchant services, Michael knew there was an opportunity to help. It was at this time Electronic Payments and our mission were born—to provide small to medium-sized businesses with affordable payment processing and essential merchant services.
“The principles that guide me are those instilled by my grandfather and father, both entrepreneurs: You answer the phone. You call people back. You solve the problem.”
– Michael Nardy
These photos show the humble beginnings of Electronic Payments in the early 2000s. After quickly outgrowing this space, we expanded and moved our headquarters to Calverton, NY in 2006.
This is the year we launched our gift card and loyalty program, eGiftSolutions®. Giving small retailers and restaurants across the country the same ability to offer gift cards, increase exposure, and drive revenue—just like the big box stores and chain restaurants—eGiftSolutions is a cost-effective solution with free processing. Today, the program has branded gift cards, a virtual gift card program, multiple location and franchise options, marketing assistance, and fulfillment services!

This milestone anniversary year was made even more special by the announcement that Michael Nardy was named to the Electronic Transactions Association’s Forty Under 40 List of Innovative Payment Executives. Recognizing payment and financial technology (fintech) executives for their innovation and leadership, this award underscores Michael’s contributions to advancing our industry with tangible payment solutions. Not only has Michael grown the company to over 150 full-time staff and more than 1,000 sales agents across the country, Electronic Payments is now processing in excess of $14 Billion in annual transaction volume. We’ve grown into the 18th largest transaction processor in the United States based on Visa/Mastercard transaction volume—without private equity or venture capital investments. Honored by this recognition, Michael continues to lead our company in creating innovative new payment and POS solutions.
We commemorated Electronic Payments’ 20th anniversary at our virtual IMPACT 2020 event! This momentous year was the perfect time to transition our annual Founder’s Club event to IMPACT, a conference designed to position our company and partners for success in the next decade of payments and point of sale.
